Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship in Canada at McGill University 2024

  • Your credentials should be equivalent to a McGill University degree. Refer to the Degree Equality page for more information.
  • Proficiency in English is necessary as it is the primary language of instruction at McGill. You may write dissertations, exams, or essays in French, except where English proficiency is a course objective.
  • Admission to a doctorate program requires the completion of a Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Before enrolling, you may need to demonstrate an appropriate level of proficiency in English.
  • Students from all over the world can apply for the scholarship.
  • Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent recognized by McGill University) in a subject closely related to the selected graduate work.
  • For the Master’s program, a four-year degree in the relevant field from a recognized institution is required unless otherwise noted.
  • The minimum overall grade point average (CGPA) for the last two years of full-time study is 3.0 out of 4.0, or a GPA of 3.2 out of 4.0. Some areas may require a higher CGPA; check your specific program requirements for details.
