Scholarships at National Taiwan University are available for the February 2025 intake. For February 2025, there will be 50 PhD programs and 100 master’s programs available for admission. Any national from any country may apply for the scholarship. Among the Top Premier Universities in Asia is National Taiwan University (NTU). Taipei, Taiwan is the location of the university. In an effort to draw in international students, NTU provides a range of scholarships, including university and fully financed government scholarships.

Duration of the Program

  • Master programs shall be completed within 1 to 4 years.
  • PhD programs shall be completed within 2 to 7 years.

NTU University Scholarships (University Scholarship)

All international students who are applying for admission at NTU University can apply for the NTU Outstanding International Graduate Student Scholarship. The scholarship covers:

  • Tuition waiver of up to TWD 65,000 (USD 2,167) each semester.
  • A monthly Stipend of TWD 8,000 (USD 267) for a Master’s degree student.
  • For PhD Students: TWD 10,000+ (USD 333+) for students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts, Social  Sciences, Law, and Management.
  • TWD 15,000+ (USD 500+) for students enrolled in the College of  Science, Engineering, Medicine, Bio-Resources & Agriculture, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Public Health, and Life Science.

Note: While applying online for admission, applicants only need to Check mark the scholarship box. No extra documents or procedures are required.

Government Scholarships at NTU University

The following Government Scholarships are also available. Those who have already been awarded Taiwan Government scholarships can not apply for the scholarships at NTU University.

Eligibility Criteria

  • International students from all over the world are welcome.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required for master’s programs and a master’s degree is required for PhD programs.
  • Meet language proficiency requirements of the specific department.
    • TOEFL iBT: 72
    • IELTS: 5.5
    • TOEIC: 785
    • GEPT: High-Intermediate
  • Excellent academic records are required.

Exemption from Submitting Language Proficiency Certificates

For Programs Conducted in English: You can skip the IELTS if you satisfy any ONE of the following requirements:

1) You are from an English-speaking country: The system will automatically exempt you from having to submit English proficiency documents if you are from one of these countries:

Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Canada, Dominica, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Kingdom of Eswatini, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Nauru, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, South Sudan (Republic of), Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, United Kingdom, United Republic of Tanzania, United States of America, Vanuatu, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

2) Previous Degree was obtained from an English-speaking country: If any of your previous degrees, including your high school diploma, were earned in an English-speaking country, we only require a copy of your graduation certificate. No additional proof of English language proficiency will be necessary.

3) Your previous degree was conducted in English: If any of your previous degrees, including your high school diploma, were entirely taught in English, we only require a certification issued by your previous university or high school confirming this. No additional proof of English language proficiency will be necessary.
