The Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award for 2024 is now accepting applications. The Commonwealth Secretariat announces the competition. Think Trade, Think Green is the essay’s central theme. The young country in the Commonwealth countries is the target audience for the competition. Examining the intricate connection between trade and climate change is the competition’s theme.

We are inviting young scholars and students from the commonwealth nations, ages 18 to 29, to offer their perspectives on an important subject: How may trade and trade policy help your country address a part of its climate crisis? Applications must be sent via email to be considered. Below are specifics regarding the essay topic, prerequisites, and submission procedure.

About Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award

 Essay Topic:

In what ways do you think trade and trade policy can help to address an aspect of the climate crisis in your country? Identify a specific problem, explain how it is linked to the climate crisis, and clearly explain how trade or trade policy can be used to address it.

Eligibility Criteria

  • An applicant must be aged between 18-29 years old.
  • A National of the Commonwealth member country.
  • Check the list of the commonwealth member countries.
  • Prizes and Honor

    • First prize: £1,000
    • Second and third prizes: £500 each

    The top three essays will also be published in the Trade Competitiveness Briefing Series and launched at the October Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa.

    • How to Format Your Essay?

      • Essays must be a maximum of 2,000 words (including in-text references and footnotes, excluding reference list)
      • Full referencing in any style (in-text and reference list)
      • Entries should be submitted as a single PDF or Word file, with 1.5 spacing, Times New Roman font.

      Criteria of Evaluation
