Applications are now open for the LPI Summer Internship 2026 in the USA! If you’re eager to kickstart your career through hands-on experience, this is your chance. The Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) is offering a fully funded 10-week internship in Planetary Science, where participants will engage in advanced research, collaborate with leading scientists, and explore diverse career opportunities in the field. The internship welcomes both U.S. and international students. Selected interns will work at the Lunar and Planetary Institute or NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, with all travel, housing, stipend, and living expenses fully covered.

Location of LPI Internship in the USA

The interns will be located either at the Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) or the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

Financial Benefits

Interns will receive an amount of $13351 in financial Support. This amount covers:

  • Airfare Tickets
  • Stipend
  • Housing (Housing costs are directly paid to the vendor from the above amount)
  • Living expenses.
  • An additional bonus allowance of $1500 for interns who complete the internship program and meet the program’s requirements.

Preferred Areas

Students with majors in Physical or Natural Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics are preferred, but all eligible students will be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The internship is open to applicants from all around the world.
  • Undergraduate students who have completed at least 50 semester hours of credit are eligible.
  • The internship is open to citizens of the USA as well.
  • IELTS is not required.

LPI Internship Requirements

  • You must complete all application forms online.
  • You are required to submit at least two reference letters (maximum of 3)
  • Official transcripts are required to qualify for the program.
  • Proof of English Language. Provide any ONE of the following:
    • TOEFL score
    • IELTS score
    • A Letter from your current institute confirming your English language skills.
